The Takbir, tahmid and tasbih resounded nationwide as a sign of gratitude to Allah Subahanahu Wata'ala for His grace in giving Muslims in Brunei Darussalam the opportunity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The Hari Raya celebration began with the Sunat Aidilfitri Prayer at all mosques, surau and religious halls nationwide. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office joined the citizens and residents for the Sunat Aidilfitri Prayer at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong, 21st March morning.
On arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; AND Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, teh State Mufti.
Also in attendance were His Royal Highness' brothers; His Royal Highness Prince' Abdul Malik AND His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
The Sunat Aidilfitri prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
In the first sermon, Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin touched on the practice of visiting one another during Syawal which is a good practice and permissible in Islam.
The second sermon emphasised on fasting in the month of Syawal by observing the six-day fast, in which the reward is equivalent to fasting for an entire year.
Prior to leaving Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, His Royal Highness and members of the Royal Family received junjung ziarah from the congregants.
